Sorry for the inconveniences and issues we have all been experiencing with the website and SI Play app. Our website host's servers at Amazon crashed on 8/31-- more info below. Unfortunately, our IM soccer and fall baseball committees (and likely others) now have a lot of additional last minute work to do to rebuild rosters, teams, schedules and other lost data. Some last minute registration data was also lost and we are working with SI Play to rebuild that data.
Please remember that WRA is a group of volunteers; there is no staff. We are frequently unable to respond immediately or even reasonably quickly to the many, many individual and team specific inquiries we receive on a daily basis. It's not that we don't love you, it's that we all have other jobs that occassionally distract us... Please rest assured that we are working as quickly as possible to respond to all inquiries we receive.
This leads me to make another outreach to our membership to ask whether we have any members or friends of WRA that would be willing to volunteer a little time to assist our board with website management. This would not involve a significant time commitment, since our sports committees handle all of their own registration and communications. However, we are looking to consult and work with the technologically savvy folks amongst us (we know you are out there) regarding our existing platforms and ways to improve our site and IT operations. To recap, on 8/31 at 9am ET we experienced an Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage that affected work your league may have completed on the SportsSignUp platform at the end of last week.
We continue working diligently with AWS to investigate the failure, and with our engineering teams to attempt to restore admin activity data input since 8/27/19. Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have confidence that full backups of admin work from 8/27/19 - 8/31/19 will be recovered.
This would have impacted any teams you may have created, rosters updated, game results and stats entered, and schedules updated. While registration data was impacted, we are working on a plan to rebuild that information and we will communicate next steps as quickly as possible.
As a volunteer, we know how valuable your time is. We deeply apologize for this inconvenience, for the potential work lost during this period, and for the time it may take you or your club to re-complete that work. With our sincere apology, we will be providing you with a $200 credit to your account. We will also be working diligently to provide additional updates in the coming days.
