Chairman: Volunteer "Still" Needed

The Whitpain Recreation Association (WRA) Basketball program, for boys and girls ages seven through eightteen, is conducted by volunteer coaches and administrators and is devoted to the enjoyment of the sport of basketball and development of basketball skills. One thousand youths participate in the intramural and travel programs with practices beginning in November and league play starting in mid-December. All games and practices are conducted at Wissahickon School district facilities. All participants will receive an evaluation.

The foundation of any successful program is the strong support of the parents and their willingness to volunteer and sponsor teams. Volunteering to coach or help out is very gratifying. Sponsoring a team is a great help to the program and a good advertising vehicle for your business. Sponsorship is $175 per team. The sponsor receives a plaque and has a name printed on at least 10 shirts. You can volunteer your services and obtain sponsorships at registration.

Travel Team Tryout Schedule

The Whitpain Recreation Association ("WRA") Basketball travel team program announces its try-out schedule for the 2008-2009 season.  The travel teams will play in local basketball leagues against children from other townships.  Players selected for the travel teams are expected to attend practices, which will begin in November, and games, which will begin in November (pre-season tournaments).  Games may be played in the evenings during the week and on Saturdays and Sundays.  Interested children must attend at least one of the scheduled tryouts.  Attendance records will be maintained and players who fail to attend at least one tryout will be ineligible for the team.  Travel team tryouts will be held at the LOWER GWYNEDD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (LG) , WISSAHICKON MIDDLE SCHOOL (WMS) and SHADY GROVE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (SG) according to the following schedule:
